When I was growing up we had our own version of virtual reality. It was called the View Master. You'd drop the circular reel into the slot of the View Master and peek through the eye holes.  Then, right before your eyes would be a dynamic three-dimensional scene. I remember having a Disney World reel and an undersea reel.  It was an immersive experience. For the 70s.
